Chemical and Alcohol Free Baby Teething Remedies

Chemical and Alcohol Free Baby Teething RemediesBabies are in minor pain and discomfort when they are teething. I have seen parents use a popular chemical teething gel that not only numbs the gums, but when the baby swallows it, it numbs the mouth and throat too. Try some on yourself and see just how awful of a feeling it is. Why would you put your baby through that? Here are some chemical and alcohol free baby teething remedies that you should try first.

Let your baby chew on something hard like a baby biscuit. You can find these at any store. I am not sure how much of a natural teething remedy these are, but they are better than chemicals and alcohol. The biscuit puts pressure on the gums which helps ease the pain. One of the ways you can tell if a baby is teething is they chew on their hands all the time, so it makes sense that the pressure is what they need.

You can buy teething rings that when frozen, will help ease the pain in the gums. Having a few of these in the freezer at all times is a good idea. In an emergency, you could wet a washcloth with cold water and with your finger; press it to the painful area. Baby will probably bite down on your finger so be prepared.

Giving your baby a Popsicle, the kinds in the tube form will give your baby something cold to chew on if you don’t have anything else. Don’t open it, just let the baby chew on it. Stay away from ice cubes, they are choking hazards.

You could also try giving your baby very cold pieces of fruit, if they can chew them. The cold will help numb the gums as your baby eats. I have heard of parents giving babies apple slices, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that because the baby could choke if he/she swallowed a big chunk. Small pieces of cold watermelon or even bananas are a safer choice.

Keeping your baby occupied and distracted will help as well. If your baby is really fussy, go for a ride in the car, or on your bike. Take a stroll around the park. Another awesome idea is to carry your baby around in a pack on your chest. There is nothing more soothing than mom’s body when it comes to easing pain.

If you have a fussy baby, I hope you will try some of these teething remedies in place of chemicals and products that contain alcohol. Nothing is going to take the pain away completely so why not use safer methods on your precious little one.

Amazing Home Acne Treatments That Don’t Cost a Fortune

Amazing Home Acne Treatments That Don’t Cost a FortuneAcne is something almost everyone experiences at one time or another; there are no age barriers. For some it is a huge problem and for others it is something that just happens now and again. Chemical acne treatments are costly and sometimes they don’t work or cause discomfort. Here are some amazing home acne treatments that don’t cost a fortune and have worked for others with this skin problem.

Some of the most common and well-know natural remedies for acne include cucumber, lemon juice and milk. If you look on any natural remedy store shelf you will find these ingredients listed in tons of natural beauty products. There is a reason for this—they work for many people, and the key is finding just the right combination of natural food components that will work for your own skin.

Strawberry Leaves Treatment for Acne

Strawberry leaves contain an ingredient called salicylic acid which has the ability to relieve swelling that is common with sever acne. Take some strawberry leaves and grind them up adding water to make a paste. Gently massage the paste to the infected area, or over your entire neck and face. Rinse off and pat your skin dry gently. Salicylic acid removes the top layer of skin so be gentle when massaging and drying your skin after applying this natural treatment.

More Natural Home Acne Treatments

Anything with acid will help dry out the acne infected areas. Make a paste with orange or lemon rind and apply to your acne. Follow the same procedure as with the strawberry leaves.

It is commonly known that cucumber is a great facial treatment and it can help as a natural remedy for acne as well. Apply cucumber juice to your face, let it dry (no longer than 30 minutes) and then remove with warm water.

Mint juice works wonders at cleaning out your pores. You can buy mint juice at your health food store or you can buy fresh mint leaves and juice them in your juicer. I found one remedy that added turmeric powder to the mint juice, if you have turmeric on your kitchen spice rack, give it a try. Just mix the ingredients together and leave on your face for no longer than 30 minutes and rinse with warm water. This mixture is very drying to your skin so make sure you get it all off when you rinse.

Sun Protection

When I was younger I remember my mother telling me that the sun was good for healing acne. Today, with all the UV rays, it is wise to apply some type of natural sun protecting cream to your face if you are going outside right after a treatment. Wearing a large hat will also help protect your vulnerable skin from harmful UV rays.

Let the Acne Treatments Work

No acne treatment works with one application; not even professional treatments. You have to be diligent when using natural home remedies. Use your chosen paste mixture everyday for a week before you decide to try something different. Each person’s skin is different so what works for your friends may not work for you. Its trial and error, but at least it isn’t costing you a fortune and you aren’t using harsh chemicals to treat your acne.
